Abstract

The reasons for the occurrence of a hadith in a hadith have the same status as the reasons for revelation in exegesis, meaning that in it, the hadith (whether it is a statement, action, speech, or description) is stated to have occurred due to certain circumstances. The identification of the reasons for the occurrence of a hadith in the science of hadith prevents discrepancies and contradictions in the individual texts of the hadith. When the source and origin of the hadith are unified, then the expectation of discrepancies and contradictions in the text cannot be made because Allah, the Lord of the worlds, has guided: "Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. It is not but a revelation revealed." Therefore, discrepancies in the texts are impossible. The clarification of the Quranic verses is through the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, and the spiritual preservation of these texts is essentially through the hadith of the Messenger of Allah. The subject matter of the reasons for the occurrence of a hadith falls under the fundamental topics of the sciences and arts related to the hadith because understanding the text and deducing and extracting the issues of the hadith from it have a very significant and infinite benefit. Although very few books have been written on this topic, there is certainly a sufficient amount of work available on it. The books of the scholars written on the science of hadith testify to this, including the works of prominent and early scholars such as Ibn Abi 'Amr al-'Uqbari (d. 417 AH), Abu Hamid ibn al-Tajib al-Jawbari (d. 583 AH), Imam Siraj al-Din 'Umar ibn Ruslan al-Balqini (d. 805 AH), Imam Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti (d. 911 AH), and Ibrahim ibn Muhammad Kamal al-Din Dimashqi (d. 1120 AH). The efforts of these scholars on this art hold a significant position. The writing of books on the reasons for the occurrence of a hadith requires real and analytical study, in which an analysis of the books of the scholars on this art will be presented.
