Abstract

Drop shipping is a modern online business form in which a drop shipper is someone who buys an item from an online company and ships it to his customer, without keeping a warehouse. A drop shipper is a middleman who buys an item from a company and ships it to the customer. Thus, the drop shipper sells the item that he does not own, does not possess, and does not deliver the item to the buyer himself. Delivery is done by the company from whom he buys the item. In the common cases of drop shipping, there are many Shariah-related issues, due to which it is not permissible according to Shariah. However, if a few limitations are considered, drop shipping can be legally justified. For example, (a) the drop shipper promises to sell instead of selling to the buyer and then buys the item himself and sells it to him. (b) A drop shipper becomes a dealer or company selling agent to sell the desired item and gets paid for providing the services. (c)A case of justification is that the drop shipper becomes the buyer's agent, purchases the item, and charges the buyer additional fees. (d) After receiving the order, the drop shipper first buys the desired item and then sells it to the buyer after keeping a profit on it. This will be discussed in detail in the article under review.
