Abstract

The Umayyad era is characterized by the poetry of chaste romance, a type of love distinguished by purity and loyalty to the beloved, along with the profound connection to places and locations associated with it. Umayyad poets such as Jarir and Majnoon Layla went to great lengths, reminiscent of pre-Islamic poets, in expressing the difficulty of the emotional state and the circumstances in which their beloveds are remembered. This expression reflects the extent of their attachment and the intertwining of their souls with their loved ones. However, this poetic expression sometimes reached nostalgic extremes, infused with a longing that borders on melancholy. Jarir and Majnoon Layla are among other Umayyad Bedouin poets, who passionately immersed themselves in their love, akin to the harshness of the Arabian desert. Their memories and emotions, situated in specific locations, become integral parts of the realm of love confronting the harshness of circumstances. Nevertheless, their poetry is distinguished by its refined language, poetic imagery, and the ability to revive and evoke moments and places that witnessed instances of passion and love. This Historical critical research will be in light of a psychological framework.
